Our Curriculum Framework
Palmetto Future Scholars uses the HighScope Educational Research Foundation curriculum, one of the most widely researched and respected early childhood education frameworks in the world. HighScope is grounded in decades of longitudinal research demonstrating lasting positive outcomes for children across academic, social, and life domains.
The HighScope approach is built on the principle that children are active learners who construct knowledge through direct, hands-on experience. Rather than passive instruction, children are empowered to make choices, pursue their interests, and develop genuine understanding through exploration and reflection.
Express Enrollment InterestChildren learn best by doing. Our approach places children at the center of their own learning through hands-on exploration, direct experience, and meaningful interaction with people and materials.
Children plan what they will do, carry out their plan, and then reflect on their experience. This daily cycle builds self-regulation, intentionality, and metacognitive skills from an early age.
Research-validated developmental indicators span social-emotional, physical, language, literacy, math, science, and creative arts. Teachers use them to observe, support, and document each child's growth.
Educators use positive interaction strategies that encourage problem-solving, extend thinking, and build warm, trusting relationships. Learning happens in partnership.
Curriculum Areas
Science, technology, engineering, and math concepts are woven into everyday play. Children experiment, observe, and ask questions, building the foundation for critical thinking.
From storytime to phonics play, we nurture a deep love of language. Rich vocabulary, listening skills, and early reading readiness are developed through intentional daily experiences.
Art, music, and dramatic play give children powerful ways to express themselves. Creative experiences build confidence, fine motor skills, and emotional intelligence.
The outdoors is a classroom too. Outdoor exploration builds gross motor skills, environmental awareness, and a sense of wonder about the natural world around us.
Rhythm, song, and movement support brain development, coordination, and social connection. Music is a daily thread woven throughout every classroom experience.
We teach children to recognize feelings, build friendships, and navigate challenges with empathy. A strong social-emotional foundation supports success in every area of life.
Learning does not stop at the classroom door. The HighScope curriculum embraces outdoor exploration as an essential part of daily learning. Nature play, physical movement, and hands-on discovery in the natural world build gross motor skills, environmental awareness, scientific thinking, and a lifelong sense of wonder.
